Known by some as the "City of Millionaires," Piedmont is actually a small town covering less than two square miles with beautiful homes. Even though Piedmont resides within the city of Oakland, it has its own city government and school district. Many of the grand homes in Piedmont are historically and architecturally significant. Oakland organizations sponsor walking tours through Piedmont, and many homes in the neighborhood are featured on benefit tours for local schools and other non-profit organizations.

Piedmont, like the rest of the Bay Area, enjoys moderate weather year round, allowing its citizens to enjoy the outdoors to the fullest; from nature hikes in the hills to quiet strolls down the tree-lined streets. Many of the homes were built at the turn-of-the-century, thus the variety of home architecture allows any walk-around-the-block to be an exciting endeavor.

Piedmont offers an ideal location for families. The streets are wide and pretty, the parks provide a variety of sports activities, and the feeling of safety and security abounds. The Piedmont Unified School District governs three elementary schools, one middle school, and two high schools. The school district has a good reputation, affording its residents the best in education. In other words, Piedmont is an exceptional town, with beautiful parks, grand homes and a rather elegant atmosphere.
